The Learn To Fly experience provides a comprehensive how-to on piloting an aircraft up, up and away! The session begins with a ground orientation, typically covering a brief overview of the intriguing physics surrounding flight, as well as safety protocol and procedures. The student-pilot works with the instructor to conduct a thorough, mandatory pre-flight check on the craft (gas, engine, propellers, wings, etc.), then it’s time to prepare for take-off!

As much of the flying lesson is hands-on in nature, the vast majority of instruction takes place up in the air, once the appropriate cruising altitude is reached. The student-pilot and instructor each have their own set of controls, typically sitting side-by-side (or one in front of the other) in the aircraft. While FAA regulations require that only the certified instructors complete the take-off and landing portions of the lesson, student-pilots are free to be fully in control of the aircraft, as coached, for the remaining air time.
